The main office at Aborn House in Pembroke will be closed for the holidays from 12pm noon on Monday, December 23rd and will reopen at 9am on Monday, January 6th. 

Any emails or voicemails left for the office while it is closed will be replied to after the office reopens on January 6th.

Our parish e-newsletters will also be on hiatus over the holiday season, resuming in the New Year.

We are once again very pleased to partner with YourTV Ottawa Valley to offer a selection of Christmas services for viewing on your local YourTV station (Cogeco Channel 12, HD Channel 700).

On December 24th at 7pm, viewers can watch a Christmas Eve service from Holy Trinity Pembroke (filmed in 2023).

On December 25th at 10am, A Joyous Prelude to Christmas, Holy Trinity Pembroke's Christmas Concert featuring a wide variety of local musicians, will be aired.

On December 29th at 10am, A Joyous Prelude to Christmas will be re-broadcast.

Our diocese has a long-standing partnership with the Diocese of Jerusalem - some of you have even taken part in pilgrimages there. Bishop Shane has shared the following appeal, asking that those who are able consider making a donation to support our friends at St. George's College, Jerusalem:

Our partners, Archbishop Hosam Naoum and Dean Richard Sewell, have asked for urgent support to ensure that a key ministry of the Diocese of Jerusalem, St. George’s College, can survive the current situation facing the region as a whole.

As you can see in the attached brochure (available online), violence and uncertainty have created a major crisis for St. George’s College Jerusalem. Its normal revenue stream from pilgrims’ fees, gift shop sales, and other lodging fees has been totally disrupted.

It is highly unlikely that pilgrimages will resume in the next twelve months and there are insufficient funds to provide already-reduced salaries for the College’s staff and essential operations. Let Light Shine: The Canadian Campaign for St. George’s College Jerusalem is seeking to raise $250,000 to cover these basic costs in 2025.

Please circulate this appeal in your parish communities and consider making a donation.

St. George’s College Jerusalem is a gem of the worldwide Anglican Communion, welcoming thousands from around the world who seek to see, feel, and understand the biblical and contemporary richness of the land of the Holy One, and the Christians, Jews, and Muslims who live there. Its valuable ministry must not fall victim to the present crisis.

With food insecurity mounting, the “Community Christmas Dinner” team in the Pembroke area plans to deliver 500 Christmas dinners for those in-need this year.  With such a significant increase in need, a few more volunteer drivers are needed to help with the delivery of these meals, mostly to local seniors.

On Monday December 23 between 1:00 & 3:00pm, volunteers will work from  St. Columkille Roman Catholic Cathedral on Renfrew Street in Pembroke and head out to deliver full course meals to those in need. It’s much more efficient if drivers have a helper with them and if it happens to be student, volunteer hours can be alloted.

By now all members of our parish will have received a letter from our clergy team sharing information about this year’s Parish of the Valley Advent Appeal. This is a reminder that, if you are able, please prayerfully consider making a gift to your local congregation through this end-of-year fundraising effort.
